Since 2001, a number of aid and development agencies (mainly based in the UK, Switzerland and Austria), along with the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), have been working together to share experience and knowledge and to identify a common approach to child protection. These agencies make up the Keeping Children Safe Coalition.

Our goal is to increase the safeguards offered to children, through improved child protection policies and practice within the agencies and authorities that work with children.

The Coalition is about to be registered as an independent charitable company and is now governed by a Board of Trustees drawn from its members. Daily operations are managed by a Director who will lead the fourth phase of the Coalition's work in line with the agreed strategy and work as the Executive for the Coalition.

Organisations wishing to become members of the Coalition must demonstrate a commitment to good practice in child protection. Members are expected to participate in KCS events, contribute from their own good practice to materials and promote the work of the Coalition through their own networks. Members provide match funding to support the Coalition's work. Organisations wishing to be considered for membership should contact the KCS Director.

	African Child Policy Forum is a child advocacy centre based in Ethiopia and Tanzania promoting the rights and wellbeing of children in Africa. One of the main programs of the ACPF is the child protection program dealing with issues of violence against children and promoting better protection. The ACPF also provides legal protection services to children in its Children's Legal Protection Centre.
	CAFOD is the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development. It is the official overseas development and relief agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. CAFOD is a member of Caritas International.
	ChildHope is a leading authority on child protection. They aim to develop the capacity of organisations in Africa, Asia and South America to reduce child abuse and expoitation, improve child justice and participation, and promote the rights of children affected by HIV and AIDS.
	The Consortium for Street Children consists of 37 UK based organisations dedicated to the welfare and rights of street living and working children and children at risk of taking to street life.
	EveryChild is an international development charity working to stop children growing up vulnerable and alone. More than 24 million children grow up without parental care, their survival often threatened by greater risk of malnutrition, violence and exploitation; their future lost by missing out on school, and their childhood. Working with local partners we keep children safe when they are alone and at risk. We protect children in danger of ending up on their own by keeping families together. And we get children back to a safe and caring family, wherever we can.
	Islamic Relief is an international relief and development charity which promotes sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities - regardless of race, religion or gender. We currently have operational offices in 24 countries.
	The NSPCC's purpose is to end cruelty to children. Their vision is of a society where children are loved, valued and able to fulfil their potential.
	Oxfam works with others to overcome poverty and suffering.
	People In Aid helps organisations whose goal is the relief of poverty and suffering to enhance the impact they make through better people management and support.
	Plan is one of the largest child centred community development organisations in the world. They work in 62 countries on projects and initiatives that address the causes of poverty and its consequences on children's lives.
	Save the Children fights for children in the UK and around the world who suffer from poverty, disease, injustice and violence. They work with them to find lifelong answers to the problems they face.
	SOS Children's Villages is an international, independent, non-governmental and social development organisation, which has been active in the field of children's needs, concerns and rights since 1949. Its activities focus on neglected and abandoned children and orphans, as well as disadvantaged families.
	Tearfund is an evangelical Christian relief and development charity that works with partners in more than 70 countries throughout the world.
	International Federation Terre des hommes Founded 1960, the Terre des hommes Foundation is the leading Swiss NGO in the field of child relief and protection, present in more than 30 countries worldwide.
	Viva is a global movement of Christians making a difference for children at risk. Working in over 40 countries and in partnership with international and local projects, Viva reaches 1.8 million children.
	World Vision is one of the world's leading relief and development agencies. It is a Christian organisation and currently works in nearly 100 countries, helping over 100 million people in their struggle against poverty, hunger and injustice, irrespective of their religious beliefs.
